Most of us don’t have the privilege of time in preparing our own food and we have all been guilty of dining-out: from fancy restaurants to your gourmet food in a box. These foods take the hassle out of dining and we can even swear they’re tastier than our home-made meals.
What you don’t know cannot hurt you and there’s always a risk with these foods cooked elsewhere. You never know how fresh the ingredients are, or how well are these foods prepared. Food poisoning is second to common cold, which strikes the unwary every year , giving you enough reason to be wary.
According to the Center for Disease Control, or CDC, these are the most common contaminants in food:
Campyolobacter – found in undercooked poultry or chicken
Salmonella – found in dirty, unwashed hands
E.Coli – found in undercooked beef or unwashed hands
Norovirus – found in unwashed hands
Depending on the type of germs, symptoms can vary from as little as few hours or several days after.
When it comes to food poisoning, folks would say “.. let nature takes it course and allow your body to heal naturally.” But you should seek immediate medical care when you experience high fever, dehydration, severe abdominal pain, or bloody stool. Don’t even take up anti-diarrhea drugs since it can make it all worse.
Here are the Natural, Gentle Cures to Rid Yourself of Harmful Bacteria:
1. Drink Plenty of fluids. You can drink water, diluted juice, or weak tea to counteract the effects of diarrhea and vomiting. You can use your own electrolyte solution by mixing a fresh citrus juice, 1 liter of water, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 4 teaspoons of sugar.
2. Take calcium supplements. A study have found out that calcium increases healthy bacteria in your guts, helping you fight off bad germs.
3. Drink up your Probiotics. Lactobacillus and other friendly bacteria defend you from salmonella and other bad germs. You might get sick, but your symptoms won’t be severe, compared to those who don’t have a healthy dose of probiotics. You may take them in capsule, powder, tablet, liquid, or chewable form.
4. Keep a stock of activated charcoal in your medicine cabinet. Toxins usually stick to the surface of the charcoal, like magnet, and flushes them out of your body – for good. Mix 1-3 ounces of it on your glass of 8-ounces water. The only down side is that your stool will appear black.
5. Love your Ginger. From slices, tea, beer, candies, or ginger snaps – ginger helps make you feel better and relieves you from nausea as well.
Remember to think twice before putting that food in your mouth. It is always smart to choose organic, natural foods and if you can – have time to prepare a decent meal, at home.
