A toss of your favorite lettuce, avocado, tomato, cucumber, olives, and carrots can be a healthy salad treat that’s good for your body. Mix these ingredients with olive or sweet almond oil, or aloe vera, and voila! You now have a natural, beauty-boosting recipe.
When the beauty market is proliferated with too many synthetic cosmetics that hide harmful chemicals that can be bad for you in the long run – it is time to seek out the comforts of your kitchen and garden, to get the best out of nature’s bounty.
These traditional salad ingredients are often marketed to be in your favorite facial cream, mask, toners, and many more. Take for example olive oil. For many years, people have been using it to give them a youthful glowing skin, since this oil is very rich in vitamin E. It’s so good that you don’t even have to buy a cosmetic version. You can even put a small amount on your fingertips of this unrefined oil from your cupboard, and apply them onto your face. That simple.
Like me, if you are tirred of all these chemical-laced stuff that’s increasing your risk for cancer and other long term related diseases, it’s time to go shop for your beauty must-haves at your local grocery.
Here’s a list of My Favorite Nature’s Best Skin Care:
Cucumber
Famous for reducing eye puffiness, the caffeic acid in this veggie helps reduce inflammation. It also contains vitamin C that gives your skin antioxidant defense against free radicals damage.
Lettuce
Love your greens since they are rich in anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant compound called polyphenols. This means protection from premature aging, plus a healthy-glowing skin.
Tomato
These red jewels are highly rich in Vitamins A, C, and lycopene. It is also a great defense against cancer, and soothes your skin from sun burns.
Carrot
Yellow and orange means beta-carotene, helping you combat environmental stress that wreaks havoc on your skin.
Avocado
Some people think this fruit makes you fat, but the fatty acids are jam-packed with vitamins B, C, E, and K. Not only will you get the best defense against the sun, but you also get a nice moisturizer.
Olive Oil
Nature’s natural emollient is rich in anti-oxidants that it’s good for your body, inside and out. This can also be a vegan’s source of natural skin moisturizer, if you don’t like squalene oil found in sharks.
One must know that using natural ingredients may cause allergic reactions to some, and one must be wary with acid fruits like strawberries, raspberries, lemon, kiwi – if you have sensitive skin. If you can, only opt for organic produce, or skin preparations made with natural ingredients.
Here’s something I like from Natalie:
Tonifying Masks for All Skin Types
1/2 glass of avocado
1/2 glass of cucumber
1/2 glass of banana
Peel and blend your avocado, cucumber, and banana. Spread on a clean damp face, avoiding the eye area. Relax for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse off well with warm water.
