Cola Addiction: Why You Should Quit Drinking Cola?

June 18th, 2009

It’s been tough convincing a friend of mine about the risks of being a cola addict. Surely, there’s a reason behind the upbeat and happy ads we see on many cola products – Cola… just gives you that energy boost to beat the slump out of a lazy day. Who wouldn’t want to feel the cola high?

It just tastes great and the sound of hundreds of bubbles popping with every bottle or can opened, is such a bliss. Cola-fanatics may argue that it’s better than being addicted to cigarettes or drugs, and they have the right to chug down as many liters they want.

Case closed. But, here’s something to ponder before you take another sip:

1. Did you know that cola is great for sanitizing your toilet bowl, removing those stubborn stains? You can just pour a can of cola in your bowl, let it sit for about an hour, and get a fab toilet job.
Reason: High Citric Acid Content

2. Need to remove rust stains from your chrome-plated wheels and bumpers? You guessed right. Grab an aluminum foil, crumple it, dip it to your cola, and scrub it against the stain.

3. Did you know that cola can be used to remove blood stains from a highway accident? Highway patrols have been doing this in many states.

4. Want to remove corrosion stains from your batteries? No, not again – but yes, cola can help you. Just pour over your batteries to clean it.

5. Having problems with tough greasy clothes’ stain? Just mix your cola and detergent and run them in your washer.

This article is NOT about home cleaning tips using cola, but just imagine what you are putting in your body everyday. There have already been plenty of studies made on the negative effects of cola such as obesity, tooth decay, sugar crash, diabetes, calcium deficiencies, cardiovascular diseases, kidney failure, and the list goes on.

Caffeine is a mild stimulant, which can be harmful to children – plus, combine it with high fructose corn syrup and phosporic acid, you might as well drink a toxic cocktail and get the job done faster.

A month ago, the Telegraph have mentioned the negative effects of chronic cola consumption, which can lead to a serious condition that makes you feel mild weakness, constipation, or worst – paralysis.

As I was searching the web, I came across this article that explains what happens to your body when you drink a cola. It’s truly superb. Due to sugar and caffeine crash, the body will always be thirsty for more. I wonder if the cola industry knows this, which means instant cash crop from many cola addicts out there ( my friend included ).

Take this as an eye-opener and it is up to you to make the choice. There are many ways to feel energized, naturally. You can eat an apple every morning to give you an instant lift, or try drinking pure, organic juices – minus the artificial sweeteners and flavors.

Bottoms Up…. to Your Health!
