Loving Your Mane

December 26th, 2009

If you have tried almost everything over your local drug store to counteract the inevitable thinning of your hair, chances are, you are not alone. For this reason, hundreds of hair loss products have been making huge profit out of our need to bring the luster and thickness back to our beloved mane. There are many factors why a person suffer hair loss and it can be caused by your genes, age, diet, hair care, physical activities, and free radicals. A healthy scalp also plays a major factor in giving you that defense against hair loss.

Thousands of solutions out there have left many people frustrated. They are not just getting the results they need that they have to result to buying a wig or having hair implants just to have those hair back. Each day, we lose 20 to 100 strands of hair, without us noticing it. A proper hair care comes a long way in helping you have a shiny and thick hair. Some other causes of hair loss may be due to estrogen levels in a woman’s body, a thyroid dysfunction, Folic acid deficiency in men, and too much Vitamin A in the body. When hormones play a huge role in the way our hair grows, we can only look for natural treatments that won’t disrupt the process.

How Can You Avoid Hair Loss Naturally

1. Indulge in protein-rich diets that include your green leafy veggies, soybean, mango, carrots, whole grains, lentils, apricots, yogurt, buttermilk, and many more.

2. Be gentle with your hair by not washing it under very hot water, by not shampooing more than twice a week, by using mild shampoo, by using a quality brush or comb, by stopping too much brushing, or by massaging your scalp for 10-15 minutes to stimulate your hair follicles after a bath.

3. Find alternative medicines for your high blood pressure prescription medicine, since these can cause hair loss.

4. Be sure to have a healthy dose of Vitamin B Complex, zinc, and enzymes so that your body can easily absorb vitamins and minerals.

5. Use a natural coconut milk or aloe vera bath for your hair. You may also use coconut or castor oil, or have a dried Amia ( Indian Goose Berry ) boiled and added to your coconut oil and apply it on your mane.

6. Mix raw egg and honey. Massage it to your hair and leave it on for 30 minutes. Rinse and dry.

7. Love your banana, honey, yogurt, and skim milk smoothie.

8. Mix the juice of alfalfa and fresh spinach or coriander. Serve it chilled.

9. Make a paste of hot olive oil, honey, and a teaspoon of cinnamon powder. Apply on hair before a bath and live it on for 15 minutes. Rinse and dry.

10. Eat oatmeal each morning since these are both rich in silica and biotin, which are essential for having a healthy hair, scalp, and nails as well.

Your hair is like a golden thread that needs your tender, loving care and by using natural alternatives, you help boost your body’s natural way of keeping your hair shiny, thick, long, and healthy. You may also try natural, herbal shampoos that contain all those healthy nutrients and vitamins that you will find at your posh juice bars. Pamper your mane with the most natural, salon-like alternatives – minus the chemical additives.
