Eucalyptus
globulus is the species of
Eucalyptus most commonly used in
aromatherapy. The oil is extracted from the leaves and twigs of this
fast growing tree indigenous to Australia. Noted for its ability to
help clear sinus or nasal congestion, this versatile oil it is also
used as a solvent for adhesives and even used to add freshness to
laundry detergents.
Blocked
sinuses and tight coughs - add 1 drop of Eucalyptus oil to a
bowl of hot water. Holding your head over the bowl, cover your head
with a towel to contain the steam. Inhale through nose or mouth. After
4 or 5 breaths, blow your nose. Repeat this process until you feel
relief.
Feverish
aches and pains ("the flu") - add 2 drops of Eucalyptus oil to
1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Rub onto the affected joints and limbs
then put on an old pair of pj's and wrap up warmly. Allow the
Eucalyptus oil to penetrate your body. Reapply avery few hours until
you feel relief.
