There
are several species Sweet Marjoram that are cultivated for garden
purposes. Marjoram oil is derived from the leaves and floweing tops of
the plant, and has an odor similar to Tea Tree, although a bit sweeter.
Traditionally used by aromatherapists as a relaxing oil, it can be
applied as an antibacterial agent. Some consider it helpful in lowering
blood pressure.
High
blood pressure - add 3 drops of Sweet Marjoram oil to a vaporizer and
vaporize for a few hours. May be blended with 2 drops of any citrus oil
to modify the smell. Discontinue using if you feel drowsy. Another
otpion is to add 3 drops of Marjoram oil to a warm bath. Relax in it
for 15 minutes.
Caution
- Do not discontinue any medication you may be taking. Monitor any
effects in consultation with your health care provider.
Cuts
and abrasions - add 5 drops Marjoram oil to a bowl of warm water, then
use this to bathe the cut or abrasion. Repeat twice a day.
